Scott Murfey - scott(enable javascript or add @ here)gdcconstruction.comWhen he was six, Scott Murfey was already building some of the best-constructed houses in La Jolla. Tree houses, that is. The young man from Bird Rock has always had a passion for quality workmanship, that's why he decided to spend four years at Cal Poly completing a degree in construction management. After college, Scott was employee no. 423 at construction giant Webcor Builders for three years, but found being a small cog in an enormous wheel was not what he wanted to specialize in. Instead, Scott was taken on at Springline Associates in Solana Beach. From his California headquarters, Scott tackled projects as diverse as renovating a Cathedral in Balboa Park, San Diego, to building a log cabin on an island on Lake Placid in upstate New York. In July 2005, Scott accepted an offer from his childhood friend, Pancho Dewhurst, to join GDC Construction as a Project Manager. He's now a Vice President /co-owner of the company. One of the projects he's most proud of at GDC has been renovating the clean lines and award-winning detail of a home that was once owned by San Diego's "architect's architect," Henry Hester. Scott has worked with the owners of the home to preserve the outstanding exterior while bringing the interior up to modern comfort levels. He said getting things done quickly, effectively and to the utmost quality is what he's about these days, and he says he's found the perfect home at GDC to do just that.
