Now comes the fourth generation. A committed craftsman and tenacious vice president and co-owner of the company, Pancho has settled into the saddle and is readying himself to take the reins as the next leader at GDC Construction. He's been especially passionate about design and workmanship since he was in his twenties, when he studied and traveled extensively in Europe, soaking in the architecture of the ancient cities of Italy and the Alps. These days, he brings the charm and character of those buildings into the homes of San Diegans through his work at GDC, and specializes in bringing a Mediterranean feel to sun-drenched residences in La Jolla and beyond. Recently, he's been partnering with Hall of Fame designer David Easton, a master of blending traditional design concepts with modern-day comforts, to create homes that are not just beautiful from the outside, but revolutionary on the inside. Pancho Dewhurst has been soaking in his father's wisdom for three decades and these days stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best construction managers in town. He says two of the most important lessons he's learned in his years on the job are the importance of fulfilling a quality, turnkey construction process; and acquiring the mastery of lifelong experiences of four generations.
